Job description

Mandiant, part of Google, is looking for a Security Consultant Intern to join its team in Toronto, Ontario for Summer 2027. This is a rare chance for a student in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related technical field to work alongside some of the world's most respected cybersecurity professionals — practitioners who are routinely on the front lines of the most complex breaches globally.

This internship puts you at the centre of real client engagements, where you'll help build and mature cybersecurity programs, assess security controls, and communicate the value of complex technical solutions to enterprise clients. If you thrive in fast-moving, high-stakes environments and want hands-on exposure to the full spectrum of enterprise security consulting, this role is worth your attention.

About the Role: Security Consultant Intern

As a Security Consultant Intern at Mandiant, you'll be embedded in client-facing work from day one. You'll contribute to evaluating client needs, designing tailored security solutions, and helping implement or assess existing security controls. The role blends technical depth with communication skills — you're not just running assessments, you're helping clients understand the risks and the path forward.

Collaboration is central to this position. You'll engage directly with client stakeholders, coordinate across teams within customer environments, and track open issues through to resolution. Mandiant's approach draws on insights from Incident Response, Intelligence, and Managed Defense practices, and as an intern, you'll be learning within that same framework — applying the latest industry standards to develop defence-forward programs for clients.

Benefits and Salary

This internship offers a competitive annual salary of $82,800 CAD. Google also provides a range of benefits — visit Google's official benefits page to learn more about what's included for interns and employees.

Responsibilities

Each responsibility is tied directly to real outcomes for enterprise clients — from helping them understand their security posture to driving the resolution of active issues. Here's what the day-to-day looks like:

  • Provide guidance on building and/or maturing cybersecurity programs and the implementation of tools and technologies used for enterprise security
  • Evaluate client needs, coordinate design for a solution, and clearly communicate the value proposition of complex and highly technical subjects
  • Implement and/or assess existing security controls within client environments
  • Interface with clients to address concerns, issues, or escalations, and track and drive to close any issues that impact the service and its value to clients
  • Engage and collaborate with client stakeholders and other groups within the customer environment to drive resolution for security issues
Requirements / Skills

Mandiant is looking for students who bring both technical foundations and a genuine interest in cybersecurity. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with code, understands core security concepts, and can engage meaningfully with clients and colleagues. Preferred candidates are currently enrolled in a Canadian degree program and available to commit to a 12-week full-time internship outside of university term time.
