The Security Clearance Administrator plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) security clearance process. This position is responsible for overseeing personnel security screening procedures, maintaining organizational security clearance records, and ensuring compliance with provincial security standards. Acting as the primary liaison between the OPP and external agencies such as Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), the Administrator ensures that all clearance activities are conducted efficiently, securely, and in accordance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security Clearance Identification & Management

    Determine the appropriate level of security clearance required for OPP personnel based on role sensitivity and operational needs.

  • Initiate and manage security screening requests

    Including background checks, fingerprinting, and other vetting procedures.

  • Recordkeeping & Reporting

    Maintain and regularly update the OPP’s organizational security clearance status report.

    Ensure accurate and secure documentation of personnel screening files and clearance records.

  • Compliance & Information Protection

    Safeguard sensitive government information and ensure secure storage and handling of classified materials.

    Monitor and enforce compliance with provincial and federal security clearance standards.

  • Stakeholder Coordination

    Serve as the primary point of contact between the OPP and external agencies such as PSPC.

    Coordinate with trade partners and Construction Site Officers (CSOs) working on OPP facilities to ensure proper clearance protocols are followed.

  • Guidance & Verification

    Provide clear guidance to internal staff and external partners on clearance procedures, documentation requirements, and timelines.

    Verify security clearance applications and identification documents for accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Strong understanding of provincial and federal security clearance processes.
  • Experience in personnel screening, background checks, and secure information handling.
  • Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of discretion and integrity in handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to obtain level 4 OPP security clearance.
