Work arrangements

Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (combination of working onsite and telework). Employees in this position who telework will be required to travel to the designated work site at least three times per week or a minimum of 60% of their regular work schedule at their own expense.

The role

We are looking for a Security Analyst to support our Security Branch. The Security Analyst would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

Reporting directly to the Senior Investigator, this position is responsible for coordinating security incident information, assessing security intelligence and assisting with investigations and supporting travel security.

The person needs to have a very high level of integrity and a complete commitment to confidentiality.

Education

Successful completion of post‑secondary education in a field relevant to the position.

An acceptable combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.

Experience
  • Recent experience liaising with external security partners.
  • Recent experience making recommendations to senior management in relation to security files.
  • Significant experience writing letters, reports or memorandum.
  • Significant experience preparing and delivering oral briefings.
  • Recent is defined as within the last 5 years
  • Significant is defined as at least 3 years of experience
Condition of employment
Top Secret Clearance

A thorough security clearance process will be applied. Applicants must be a Canadian Citizen.

For a Top Secret Clearance, verification of background information over a period of 10 years is required. Individuals must have lived in Canada for a sufficient period of time to enable the security screening process.

Technical competencies
  • Knowledge of the fundamental principles of security concepts and standards in a government context accordance with the Policy on Government Security.
  • Knowledge of various security investigations, methodologies and processes including physical security, IT security and personnel security.
  • Knowledge of open source information collection and the process of information gathering and analysis to determine trends, would be an asset but not required.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications, data management and administrative investigative procedures.
  • Ability to synthesize information clearly and accurately for distribution to both internal and external customers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Compensation

From $72,436 to $85,298 per annum.

In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
