Job summary

  • Ability to analyze problems, gather information and draw sound conclusions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent Word, Excel and PC database skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course and/or Derivatives Fundamentals Course is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in oversight of preparation and delivery of valuation reports to clients and their agents.
  • Ensure procedures for review and approval of portfolio market values are current and followed.
  • Propose procedural changes to reduce risk, reduce manual input, and increase efficiency.
  • Ensure daily receipt of pricing feeds, broker quotes and data sources.
  • Identify, research, and resolve prices breaking set tolerance levels.
  • Collaborate with peers to achieve group and client goals.
  • Review and sign off on daily group packages with accuracy and audit trail.
  • Identify and resolve fair value situations and escalate issues as needed.
  • Support global pricing tasks in a 24/7 style operating environment.
  • Ensure team training and cross-training, mentoring staff, and knowledge expansion.

Securities Valuation is a centralized unit supporting several business units and is broken out into two distinct areas; Fund Level Pricing and Asset Pricing. The Associate 2, Securities Valuation is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely execution of daily market valuations for various clients in accordance with each clients’ Price Source Authorization (“PSA”) agreement, standing instructions, and market best practices.

What you will be responsible for
  • Assist in the oversight of preparation and delivery of valuation reports to internal and external clients and/or their agents in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that procedures are in place, up to date, and adhered to regarding the review and approval of portfolio market values.
  • Propose changes to procedures to management with a focus of reducing risk, manual inputs, and increasing efficiencies.
  • Ensure the receipt of all pricing feeds, broker quotes, back‑up pricing sources and other relevant data on a daily basis.
  • Identify, research, and resolve prices breaking set tolerance levels.
  • Function as a “team-player”.
  • Work with peers and achieve group/client/unit goals.
  • Review and sign‑off on daily group packages with a focus on accuracy, detail, audit trail, and timeliness.
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve fair value situations.
  • Escalate issues to manager and/or clients as required.
  • Support global pricing tasks in a continuous operations environment.
  • Ensure that the group is adequately trained and cross‑trained.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Continuously expand and improve knowledge of financial instruments, corporate actions, and best valuation practices.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the various fund groups, client requirements and other market related anomalies.
  • Maintain proper documentation and back‑up for audit purposes.
  • Participate in and contribute to unit project initiatives.
  • Provide outstanding client service to both internal and external clients.
Education & Preferred qualifications

College or university designation preferably with a concentration in finance or accounting.

1+ years experience in securities pricing, fund accounting, or custody operations / securities administration is preferable.

Knowledge of capital markets and complex securities.

Demonstrate the ability to analyze a problem, obtain and evaluate information and reach sound conclusions.

Must demonstrate the ability to work as a team player.

Excellent computer knowledge of Word, Excel, and PC databases.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Solid administration, organizational and time management skills.

Completion of the Canadian Securities Course and/or Derivatives Fundamentals Course is an asset.

Salary Range

$45,000 - $67,500 Annual The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
