About the role

If you're looking for an exciting opportunity to work as part of a dynamic teaching team in a growing school, then we invite you to consider this position. We are seeking to appoint a full time Secondary English Teacher commencing Term 1 2027. Teachers with the capacity to also teach in another learning area will be highly regarded.

This is a full time position, with the potential for a suitably qualified candidate to take on an immediate or future leadership responsibility.

The successful candidate will hold the following core responsibilities:

  • Holistic Student Development: Deliver high-quality education that nurtures students academically, socially, and spiritually, aligning with the school's Christian values.
  • Community Engagement: Actively and positively engage with parents and the broader school community to support student success.
  • Professional Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to implement whole-school programs, pedagogy, policies, and curriculum.

The successful candidates will implement a pedagogical framework and foster a classroom environment based on the following principles:

  • Evidence-Based Instruction: Base teaching strategies on the Science of Learning and the underpinning Cognitive Load Theory, utilising daily reviews and retrieval practices to ensure knowledge retention.
  • Responsive & Data-Informed Teaching: Regularly check for understanding, provide quality feedback, and use data to design rich learning tasks that stretch student thinking.
  • Positive Tone: Create an appealing, safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom space.
  • Clear Routines: Establish and maintain structures and routines so every student clearly understands expectations, while also having fun!

As lifelong learners, all teachers at ACC should be willing to engage in professional development opportunities, including coaching, to collectively improve practice.
