Job summary

The City of Greater Sudbury is seeking a truck driver to operate a salt/sand spreader with a front mounted plow and side wing on roads, parking lots, and other areas managed by Roads Operations. This role reports to a Foreperson and emphasizes safety and efficiency in winter maintenance.

You will load and unload, drive heavy or light trucks with attachments, and keep the Vehicle Log Book up to date. The position requires shift work, a DZ licence, and good knowledge of English.

Qualifications

• Secondary School (Grade XII) completed.
• Minimum two years experience driving a truck.
• Valid class DZ driver's licence.
• Ability to perform shift work and winter callouts.
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks with attachments for construction and maintenance.
• Sand, salt and plow roadways with spreader unit and plow.
• Transport personnel, materials, and equipment.
• Load/unload trucks manually or with equipment.
• Install/remove attachments as required.
• Daily vehicle inspection and routine maintenance; report defects.
• Record information in Vehicle Log Book.
• Oversee up to two workers during routine duties.
• Follow CGS Safety Manual and provincial laws.
• Perform other related duties as required.
