Job summary

Nutrien Ag Solutions, located within Innovation Place in Saskatoon, is seeking a fall-season trainee to assist with nursery harvest, seed production and growth-facility operations. These two-to-three-month assignments (August–October 2026) provide hands-on exposure to seed cleaning, treatment and equipment setup in indoor growth facilities and field trials.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, basic data-entry skills on iPad Excel, and a safety-first mindset;

Qualifications

  • A High School diploma or equivalent certificate is required.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Skilled in utilizing Excel on iPad to enter and save numerical data and notes.
  • An engaged safety-first mindset.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor weather conditions for the majority of work shift.
  • Able to stoop, bend, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Accountability to team with dependable attendance and completion of assigned workload.
  • Attention to detail when completing data tracking activities.
  • Follow through on assigned tasks from start to finish.
  • Apply critical thinking in problem solving scenarios.
  • Interpersonal effectiveness to collaborate with colleagues and leaders.
  • Organized approach to completing work in alignment with priorities.
  • Previous work with farm machinery, small plot field trials, or related agriculture experience is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support our indoor growth facilities team in completing a variety of routine tasks.
  • Efficiently complete seed cleaning, seed treatment, and setup of seeding envelopes.
  • Safely operate small plot field equipment such as tractors, tillage tools, combines, and swathers.
  • Adhere to driving laws and safety standards when moving equipment, including a truck and trailer, between sites.
  • Hand harvest of selfing bags and tented seed production.
  • Fall land preparation, including application of herbicides and fertilizer.
  • Actively follow safety procedures, wearing PPE as required.
  • Perform routine equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Timely complete tasks, as assigned, from technicians, agronomists, and plant breeders to meet business objectives.
  • Local travel (10% or less) may be required.

Located within Innovation Place in Saskatoon, SK and reporting to the breeding program manager, you will be involved with the harvest of nursery rows and tented seed productions as well as growth facilities operations.

Multiple positions are available for two-to-three-month assignments during fall season 2026 (August – October).
