Job summary

Dawson Road Maintenance is seeking Seasonal Operators with a Class 1 or 3 license to clear snow and ice and keep roadways safe throughout the province. This temporary, full-time role reports to the Road Foreperson and requires an experienced operator to meet production goals in the Fort St.

John, Fort Nelson and surrounding areas. Applicants should have at least two years of road maintenance or construction experience, knowledge of snow removal, and the ability to operate heavy equipment in all

• Minimum two years of road maintenance/construction experience.
• Valid Class 1 license preferred; Class 3 required.
• Two years of commercial driving experience is an asset.
• Experience in snow removal is an asset.
• Heavy equipment operation knowledge preferred.
• Able to manage electronic reporting using tablets.
• Minor equipment maintenance ability.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety of self and others at all times.
• Operate heavy equipment in all weather on public roadways.
• Follow daily production schedule and supervisor direction.
• Maintain daily work in progress and completion status.
• Produce reports and maintenance logs.
• Keep equipment properly maintained.

Job description

Dawson Road Maintenance is looking for Seasonal Operators, holding a Class 1 or 3 license, who will skillfully navigate frozen roads, clearing snow and ice, along with other duties to ensure our roadways are safe for all travellers.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a temporary, full-time position of Seasonal Operator, reporting to the Road Foreperson. This position requires an experienced operator to meet company production objectives and work within specified tolerances We are currently hiring in Fort St. John, Montney, Hudson's Hope, Rose Prairie & Buick Creek, Cecil Lake & Clayhurst, Fort Nelson, B.C. and may require some travel throughout our great province.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A FLY IN FLY OUT.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Must prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job
• Work collaboratively with all team members to successfully complete tasks at hand, and other day to day duties to keep our roads and service area safe and clean
• Ability to perform unskilled manual work requiring little previous training or experience but involving physical effort
• Operate heavy equipment in all weather conditions, on public roadways in a safe and appropriate manner
• Follow direction of the Supervisor regarding daily production schedule and activities
• Maintains a daily activity of work in progress and status of completion
• Maintain proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment
• Complete all work reports and maintenance logs

WHAT YOU BRING

• Minimum two (2) years of road maintenance and/or construction experience
• Valid Class 1 preferred, or 3 Drivers license is required
• Two (2) years commercial driving experience is an asset
• Experience in snow removal is considered an asset
• Knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements
• Heavy Equipment Operating Certificate an asset
• Able to manage electronic reporting using tablets
• Minor equipment maintenance
