Job summary

Dawson Road Maintenance is seeking Seasonal Operators with a Class 1 or 3 license to clear snow and ice and keep our roadways safe. You will join in Fort St.

John, Montney, Hudson's Hope, Rose Prairie, Cecil Lake, Clayhurst, Fort Nelson and other sites across BC, in a temporary, full-time role reporting to the Road Foreperson. This position emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliable vehicle operation in all weather.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years in road maintenance or construction.
• Valid Class 1 preferred, or Class 3 license required.
• Two years of commercial driving experience is an asset.
• Snow removal experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of road construction materials and processes.
• Heavy Equipment Operating Certificate is an asset.
• Able to perform electronic reporting on tablets.
• Capable of completing a commercial vehicle inspection.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety of self and others on the job.
• Operate heavy equipment on roads in various weather.
• Follow supervisor daily production schedule.
• Maintain work in progress logs and reports.
• Pothole patching and sign/bridge maintenance as needed.
• Chain up wheels when required.
• Perform other road maintenance tasks as needed.

Job description

Dawson Road Maintenance is looking for Seasonal Operators, holding a Class 1 or 3 license, who will skillfully navigate frozen roads, clearing snow and ice, along with other duties to ensure our roadways are safe for all travelers.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a temporary, full-time position of Seasonal Operator, reporting to the Road Foreperson. This position requires an experienced operator to meet company production objectives and work within specified tolerances We are currently hiring in Fort St. John, Montney, Hudson's Hope, Rose Prairie & Buick Creek, Cecil Lake & Clayhurst, Fort Nelson, B.C. and may require some travel throughout our great province.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A FLY IN FLY OUT.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Must prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job
• Work collaboratively with all team members to successfully complete tasks at hand, and other day to day duties to keep our roads and service area safe and clean
• Ability to perform unskilled manual work requiring little previous training or experience but involving physical effort
• Operate heavy equipment in all weather conditions, on public roadways in a safe and appropriate manner
• Follow direction of the Supervisor regarding daily production schedule and activities
• Maintains a daily activity of work in progress and status of completion
• Maintain proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment
• Complete all work reports and maintenance logs
• Chain up wheels whenconditions require
• Perform other roadmaintenance tasks as required, such as, but not limited to: potholepatching, yard and shop housekeeping, sign and bridge maintenance andcleaning
• Perform minorpreventative maintenance tasks, including greasing

WHAT YOU BRING

• Minimum two (2) years of road maintenance and/or construction experience
• Valid Class 1 preferred, or 3 Drivers license is required
• Two (2) years commercial driving experience is an asset
• Experience in snow removal is considered an asset
• Knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements
• Heavy Equipment Operating Certificate an asset
• Able to manage electronic reporting using tablets
• Minor equipment maintenance
• Be physically able tocomplete a commercial vehicle trip inspection
