Job summary

Collingwood School Wentworth Campus seeks an experienced School Age Care Worker for a temporary contract from November 16, 2026 to June 11, 2027. The role supports JK–Grade 5 activities, primarily JK, with duties directed by the Director of External Programs.

Responsibilities include direct interaction with children and staff, activity planning, parent communication, and strict adherence to licensing and safety standards within a 20-hour/week shift.

Qualifications

• Valid First Aid certificate (Standard First Aid preferred).
• ECE Diploma/Certificate is required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with children in a school or child care setting.
• Strong management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a student-centered environment.
• Must be a Canadian resident legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Follow licensing regulations and the School Age Care Handbook.
• Interact directly with children and staff members.
• Assist planning and setup of the School Age Care program to provide varied activities.
• Establish and maintain positive communication with parents.
• Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment; ensure safety and supervision standards.
• Release children only to authorized guardians; maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain regular attendance, punctuality and professionalism.
• Ensure drills for fire, earthquake and wildlife sighting are up to date.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced School Age Care Worker to join our Wentworth Campus. This position will work within the school age care program and facilitate activities for children ages JK-5, predominantly in JK. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and committed educator who can demonstrate the ability to contribute to the many facets of school life. It is a Temporary Contract position from November 16, 2026 to June 11, 2027 with the possibility of continuing in the future. This position reports directly to the Director of External Programs.

Available shift:

Junior Kindergarten Room (20 hrs/week) when school is in session:

• Monday to Friday 12:45-4:00pm with JK and 4:00-4:45pm K - Gr. 5
• Early Childhood Education required
• Eligible for benefits coverage

Responsibilities:

• Follow the licensing regulations and the School Age Care Handbook
• Interact directly with the children and staff members
• Assist with the planning and set up of the School Age Care program to ensure that the children have a variety of activities to choose from
• Establish and maintain positive communication with parents
• Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all activity areas
• Ensure that all safety and supervision standards are implemented and maintained according to licensing and Collingwood requirements
• Release children only to those authorized by parent/guardian
• Maintain confidentiality of all information related to Collingwood School, the children, their families, and staff
• Maintain regular attendance, punctuality and professionalism at all times
• Ensure fire, earthquake and wildlife sighting drills are up to date

Required qualifications:

• A valid First Aid certificate (Standard First Aid is preferred)
• A valid Early Childhood Education Diploma/Certificate
• Accountability, maturity and a high level of responsibility
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with children in a school or child care setting.
• Excellent management, organizational, interpersonal and relationship skills
• Creative flexibility and ability to work in a student-centered environment
• Ability to build collaborative and effective relationships with students, staff, parents and the community
• Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada
