Job summary

FGF Brands is seeking a Shift Leader to supervise scaling operations in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You will lead, train and mentor a team, ensure proper ingredient sequencing, and uphold GMPs and safety standards on shift.

The role requires 1–2 years in manufacturing, strong leadership, and the ability to manage time and priorities under deadlines. Expect varied shifts including days, afternoons, nights and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience desirable).
  • Demonstrated leader who can motivate a team to meet schedule demands.
  • Excellent time management, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and basic arithmetic abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physically capable of the role and able to move objects up to 40 kg.

Responsibilities

  • Leads by example and fosters teamwork and mutual respect among team members.
  • Conduct pre-shift huddles and provide feedback to staff.
  • Leads, coaches, mentors and trains team members.
  • Enforces GMPs and safety procedures and maintains a safe working environment.
  • Assists planning with inventory management and keeps scaling area clean.
  • Ensures proper sequencing of ingredients and adherence to batch sheets.
  • Monitors shift productivity and supports continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provides coverage during breaks and coordinates with the scaling team leaders.

Overview

Reporting to the Operations Leader and Site Leader, the Shift Leader is responsible for the efficient and accurate scaling of ingredients and for the timely shipping of packaging and production materials; all within a fast paced (just-in-time) food manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Leads by example and fosters an environment of mutual respect and team work among Team Members.
  • Conduct pre-shift huddles and provides feedback for Team Members.
  • Leads, coaches, mentors and trains Team Members.
  • Ensures that a safe working environment is maintained at all times by enforcing Company standards and following up on regular inspections.
  • Assists planning team with managing inventory level.
  • Maintains scaling area and tools to a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Provides orientation and training as required to ensure an effective and efficient workforce.
  • Combines all raw materials in proper sequence and ensure that each ingredient has been added and processed as outlined in the Batch Sheet.
  • Follows all GMP’s and Safety Procedures as outlined by FGF.
  • Verifies that all batches are produced on your shift.
  • Ensures every Team Member in the scaling area receives their entitled break and proper coverage is provided during each Team Member’s break.
  • Updates team on daily issues and fosters an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Works with the continuous improvement team to improve efficiency.
  • Acts as a backup to scaling team leaders as required.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience is desirable).
  • Must be a demonstrated leader who interacts with others and is adept at leading/motivating a team to meet schedule demands.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a quality issue.
  • Good communication skills, along with simple mathematical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physically capable of performing the demands of the role.
  • Ability to frequently move objects up to 40 kg.
  • Ability to move from one task to another with minimal distraction.
  • Flexible to work days, afternoons, nights & weekends if needed.
