Job summary

Telesat is seeking a TCC Technologist to join the Network Operations team in Canada. You will monitor satellite network services on a 24/7 basis, perform preventive and corrective maintenance on RF and baseband gear, and help restore services for North American and international customers.

The role requires a 3-year Electronics/Telecommunications Technologist Diploma and 1–2 years related experience. Knowledge of RF/microwave devices, data protocols, and telecom systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Requires a 3-year Electronics/Telecommunications Technologist Diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of related experience would be an asset.
• Willingness to obtain CGP clearance and possible US data/hardware approvals.

Responsibilities

• Providing telephone customer support
• Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on RF/baseband equipment
• Maintain critical systems at Allan Park Earth Station and TT&C ground equipment
• Maintenance of networking hardware (routers, IP switches, modems)
• Review and update customer network documentation for accuracy
• Assist with implementation of new/expanded services by Network Engineering
• Monitor remote customer networks for alarms and service degradation
• Document network trouble reports in ticketing system
• Investigate sources of satellite RF interference
• Collaborate with customers and third-party contractors
• Occasionally oversee day-to-day group operations in a shift lead role
