Payroll Processing Team Lead

SAP S4/HANA

Complex High-Volume Blue-Collar Workforce

Work From Home 2 Days Per Week

About the Role

UGL is seeking an experienced SAP Payroll Processing Team Lead to join our warm, friendly corporate team in North Sydney.

Our payroll team operates with best practice Segregation of Duties, divided into three functional teams: data management, processing, and accounting. The team comprises 23 members, with 8 direct reports to this role, managing payroll for approximately 10,000 workers each month, split into ten payrolls for salaried, casual, and blue‑collar workers.

The role involves managing the payroll processing team who are responsible for a predominantly blue‑collar workforce across numerous projects and sites in Australia, including handling complex employee scenarios such as employee payments, demobilisation and separations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily payroll processing operations, ensure full use of SAP functionality, and ensure authorised transmission of net pay transactions including STP submissions.
  • Manage ServiceNow tickets, including compensation payments, manual payments, pay slips, reconciliations, and separations.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss issues, suggest improvements, and communicate changes and support team members.
About You
  • Substantial experience processing medium‑high volume complex payrolls in a large corporate environment with SAP and ServiceNow systems.
  • Tech‑savvy with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and knowledge of EBA’s.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to lead and mentor a team.
