Job summary

A North American consulting firm is seeking a SAP Cutover Lead responsible for planning and executing cutover activities for SAP S/4HANA implementation. You will lead complex cutover processes, manage cross-regional coordination, and ensure a low-risk transition from legacy systems. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in SAP cutover management, a strong grasp of integration, and proven leadership skills, along with relevant education background. This is a hybrid contracted role located in Vancouver.

Our Client is looking for a SAP Cutover Lead. Reporting to the Manager, Technology, ERP, the Cutover Lead, ERP (North America) is responsible for planning and delivering end-to-end cutover activities for SAP S/4HANA Greenfield implementation, including coordination with third-party vendors and integration partners. This role owns the overall cutover strategy and execution, ensuring a controlled, low-risk transition from legacy systems to the new SAP landscape.

Start: February 16, 2026
End Date: 1 Year Contract. Strong chance of a renewal of 6 months
Location: Vancouver, BC; Hybrid. 4 days in office, 1 day work from home.

Role Overview

The Cutover Lead works closely with functional leads, technical teams, integration partners, and business collaborators to define cutover scenarios, detailed runbooks, mock cutover cycles, and final launch readiness. They are accountable for sequencing cutover tasks across SAP and non-SAP systems, managing dependencies, identifying risks, and driving timely issue resolution. The role also coordinates cross-regional cutover activities and supports business continuity by ensuring all cutover activities are aligned with program milestones and transformation objectives.

Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Actively promote adherence to operational standards throughout the entire cutover process.
Cutover Strategy, Planning & Governance
  • Define the comprehensive cutover approach, governance model, scope, and objectives spanning SAP and non-SAP environments.
  • Develop detailed cutover plans, runbooks, sequencing, and dependency mapping for Greenfield, Brownfield, and system conversion programs.
  • Build and manage mock cutovers, dress rehearsals, and launch readiness activities.
  • Coordinate cutover environment readiness, data migration alignment, and business readiness activities.
  • Establish risk management frameworks, contingency plans, rollback strategies, and decision paths for blocking issues.
Execution & Cutover Management
  • Lead and manage end-to-end cutover execution across SAP and integrated third-party systems.
  • Coordinate activities across functional, technical, data, infrastructure, security, and business teams.
  • Drive defect, issue, and risk management during cutover using tools such as CloudALM, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, and related platforms.
  • Manage cutover command centre operations during mock cutovers and launch.
  • Monitor execution progress in real time, proactively address blockers, and ensure readiness for go/no-go decision-making.
  • Anticipate cutover risks and define mitigation strategies to minimize business disruption and ensure a stable production transition.
Integration & Dependency Management
  • Own cross-system dependencies between SAP and other enterprise platforms.
  • Identify integration risks, sequencing constraints, and transition impacts across enterprise systems.
  • Align third-party vendors, SI partners, and internal teams to a single, controlled cutover plan.
Leadership & Collaborator Engagement
  • Act as the central point of accountability for the entire cutover process.
  • Lead multi-functional cutover teams and coordinate execution across geographies where required.
  • Engage business leaders and operational collaborators to ensure readiness and alignment.
  • Provide clear status reporting, risk visibility, and executive-level communication.
Communication, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide regular cutover status updates, risk assessments, readiness reports, and executive-level summaries.
  • Facilitate go/no-go reviews, cutover readiness checkpoints, and post-go-live retrospectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cutover methodology, tools, and governance based on lessons learned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of progressive experience delivering SAP cutover for large-scale Greenfield, Brownfield, or migration initiatives.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with SAP S/4HANA, ECC, and integrated SAP and non‑SAP ecosystems.
  • Proven expertise in managing sophisticated, multi‑system cutovers, including external integrations and data migration.
  • Deep understanding of cutover activities, risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies related to SAP and other enterprise systems.
  • Experience working across CloudALM, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, Tricentis, or similar platforms.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaborator management skills, with capacity to drive alignment across business and technology teams.
  • Solid grasp of security, compliance, and controls related to system deployments and production releases.
  • Highly diligent, with strong focus and the ability to operate effectively under fast‑paced launch timelines.
  • Demonstrable ability to anticipate challenges, proactively mitigate risk, and deliver stable, business‑ready go‑lives.
