Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic in Winnipeg to diagnose, maintain and repair industrial chillers, large tonnage heaters, AHUs and temporary climate-control systems.

You will work independently in the field, across multiple customer sites, performing advanced diagnostics and preventive maintenance while ensuring safety and regulatory standards are met.

Qualifications

• HVAC Technician experience with industrial or commercial systems.
• Experience with refrigeration cycles, compressors, VFDs, controls, and high‑tonnage equipment.
• Trade certification (Journeyperson HVAC/Refrigeration or equivalent) is required.
• Strong diagnostic skills in electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant systems.
• Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast‑paced field environment.
• Valid driver’s license and personal hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on industrial chillers (air‑ and water‑cooled).
• Service large‑scale heaters, boilers and hydronic systems.
• Maintain air handling units and ventilation equipment.
• Support temporary cooling/heating units and associated power systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and refrigerant issues; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Complete preventive maintenance to maximize uptime; operate as a field technician across customer sites.

Are you an HVAC expert looking for a dynamic, empowering workplace where every day brings a new challenge? Sunbelt Rentals is hiring a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic to support our growing Power & HVAC division in Winnipeg.

In this role, you’ll diagnose, maintain, and repair industrial chillers, large tonnage heaters, commercial/industrial air handling units, temporary climate-control systems, and related equipment—working independently in the field to keep our customers running.

What You’ll Work On

Industrial and commercial chillers

High-capacity heaters & hydronic heating systems

Industrial air handling units (AHUs)

Temporary cooling/heating units

Power generation and pumping systems

What You’ll Do

Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on:

Industrial chillers (air-cooled & water-cooled)

Large-scale heaters, boilers & hydronic systems

Air handling units and ventilation equipment

Temporary and emergency HVAC systems

Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant issues

Complete preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and safety

Work independently as a field technician across multiple customer sites

Ensure all work meets safety, environmental, and regulatory standards

What We’re Looking For

HVAC Technician experience with industrial or commercial systems

Base Pay Range

42.10 - 60.51
