Job summary

Talan is seeking a SAP BTP AI Solutions Architect to define the technical architecture of solutions built on SAP Business Technology Platform, including the AI layer. The role involves hands-on delivery, guiding developers, and addressing client security and technology questions while considering consumption costs.

• At least ten years in SAP or enterprise integration.
• Four+ years building on SAP BTP.
• Delivery of minimum three production SAP BTP solutions.
• CAP in Node.js or Java experience.
• Three years with SAP Integration Suite (API Management & Event Mesh).
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/IT or related field.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical architecture of SAP BTP AI solutions.
• Mentor BTP and AI developers; enable client adoption.
• Design subaccount/topology, and decide runtime like Cloud Foundry vs Kyma.
• Estimate effort, licensing, and cost impacts of SAP BTP models.
• Resolve escalations during build, test, cutover and stabilization.

Job description

Reporting to the Senior Director, Alliances and Presales, with a delivery reporting line to the Vice President, Delivery for engagement work, the SAP BTP AI Solutions Architect defines the technical architecture of solutions built on SAP Business Technology Platform, including the artificial intelligence layer.

You design deliverable, secure, and operable solutions while accounting for consumption cost. You guide developers, address questions from client security and technology teams, and remain hands-on with code and delivery decisions.

Your mission consists of:

• Leadership, vision and initiative
  • Own the architecture of SAP BTP and AI scope, set development standards, and review the work of BTP and AI orchestration developers.
  • Maintain the practice’s reference architectures, reusable patterns, and technical accelerators.
• Technical and functional expertise
  • Design subaccount and environment topology, Cloud Foundry versus Kyma runtime choices, HANA Cloud persistence, identity, authorization, and connectivity.
  • Architect SAP Business AI solutions using AI Core, AI Launchpad, generative AI hub, grounding, retrieval, and Joule extensibility.
• Problem solving and analytical thinking
  • Design SAP and non-SAP integration, including API management, eventing, monitoring, error handling, and supportable retry behaviour.
  • Resolve technical escalations during build, testing, cutover, and stabilization.
• Estimate effort, complexity, environments, licensing, and consumption, then explain the financial implications of SAP BTP commercial models to stakeholders.
• Knowledge sharing
  • Mentor BTP and AI developers, lead internal enablement, and track capabilities SAP has actually released to guide client adoption.

Qualifications

• Experience: At least ten (10) years in SAP or enterprise integration, including at least four (4) years building on SAP BTP.
• BTP achievements: Delivery of at least three (3) production SAP BTP solutions, with the ability to explain lessons from operating them.
• CAP and integration expertise: At least four (4) years with CAP in Node.js or Java and three (3) years with SAP Integration Suite, including API Management and Event Mesh.
• AI and platform expertise: At least two (2) years with SAP Business AI, plus hands‑on experience with Cloud Foundry, Kyma, HANA Cloud, XSUAA, IAS, IPS, role collections, and principal propagation.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Conditions: Canada‑based remote role with client travel representing approximately 20% to 30% of working time.
• Communication: Good oral and written communication skills, inEnglish, to communicate with clients located across North America.

• ABAP Cloud, SAP Datasphere, Business Data Cloud, SAP Build Process Automation, Work Zone, CI/CD, CTMS, or gCTS.
• SAP BTP Solution Architect, BTP Extensions with CAP, Integration Suite, SAP Business AI, or cloud architecture certification.
