Summary

The Sanitation Technician Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring sanitation excellence across multiple food manufacturing sites in North America. This role is execution-heavy and focused on training sanitation teams, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, improving sanitation processes and on-the-floor execution.

This is a hands‑on, on‑the‑floor role that requires someone who thrives in fast‑paced manufacturing environments, enjoys working directly with teams, and is passionate about training and execution. The Sanitation Trainer must be comfortable working weekends, travelling frequently, and adapting to different plant environments across North America.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Deliver hands‑on sanitation training to frontline sanitation teams, ensuring they follow the best practices and regulatory requirements (USDA, FDA, CFIA, GMP, HACCP, and SQF).
  • Develop and lead train‑the‑trainer sessions to build internal capability within sanitation teams.
  • Ensure new team members are properly onboarded and trained on sanitation procedures and equipment.
  • Adapt training methods to accommodate different learning styles and ensure effective knowledge transfer.
  • Work directly on the production floor, guiding and supporting sanitation teams during cleaning processes, customer & third‑party audits.
  • Reinforce training by demonstrating proper sanitation techniques and monitoring execution.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation protocols, food safety standards, and plant‑specific procedures.
  • Support troubleshooting sanitation challenges, including equipment cleaning, chemical handling, and allergen control.
  • Work closely with the Sanitation Process Engineer to implement sanitation process improvements.
  • Provide feedback from the floor to help refine training programs and sanitation procedures.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Business Transformation (Op‑Ex) and Engineering teams to improve sanitation efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Experience working in a variety of food manufacturing environments (e.g., flatbread, artisan bread, sweets, donuts, or other baked goods) is an asset, as each category presents unique sanitation challenges and requirements.
  • Weekend work is required as part of sanitation operations.
  • Must be willing to travel frequently to different manufacturing sites.
  • Adapt to various shifts and schedules as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team and organizational goals.
Required Experience
  • 2+ years of sanitation experience in food manufacturing.
  • Strong training and coaching skills, with the ability to engage and motivate teams.
  • Have an outgoing personality with strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Open‑mind and eager to learn new sanitation processes and machinery.
  • Comfortable working in fast‑paced environments with a hands‑on approach.
  • Ability to adapt training materials to different audiences and ensure practical execution.
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of sanitation compliance standards.
  • Willingness to work weekends/long hours and travel extensively to different manufacturing plants
