Sanitation Supervisor

Under the guidance of the FSQA Manager and National Sanitation Manager, the Sanitation Supervisor will oversee all aspects of the sanitation process to ensure the cleanliness and compliance of our facility with sanitation standards. Responsible for daily plant sanitation activities and supporting continuous improvement initiatives, this role involves managing and mentoring a team of sanitation leads and associates. Collaboration with different departments and outside sanitation contractors is essential for achieving optimal results.

What’s included in a day’s work?
  • Train and coach associates on chemical handling, equipment use, and general housekeeping to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train a team of in-house sanitation leads and associates.
  • Maintain and track the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) in collaboration with Production, FSQA, Maintenance, and Health and Safety.
  • Actively represent sanitation requirements to site leadership and monitor weekly sanitation metrics.
  • Ensure timely cleaning and sanitization of all areas / equipment to support production start-up.
  • Manage chemical inventories and cleaning supplies.
  • Develop and implement a sanitation training program and ensure compliance with SSOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Build a sanitation labor plan, review timesheets, schedule shifts, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Evaluate third-party cleaning contractors and chemical suppliers through quarterly KPI assessments.
  • Revise SSOPs based on facility equipment and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with third-party sanitation contractors and chemical suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve non-conformities.
  • Conduct seek-and-destroy activities as required.
  • Drive changes and improvements in sanitation practices.
  • Ensure proper functioning of sanitation equipment and systems through effective preventative monitoring.
What is required?
  • Post-secondary education in Biological or Food Sciences, or equivalent experience in food manufacturing sanitation (minimum 3 years).
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience in sanitation.
  • Knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles.
  • Proficiency in sanitation procedures, cleaning systems, chemicals, and HSE.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Data-driven problem-solving skills with emphasis on root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in Google applications.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and build high-performing teams.
  • Shift is Sunday to Thursday, 11pm – 7:30am at the Mississauga location.
