Reporting to the Sales Director the Senior Sales Representative will work closely with the account management team and will be responsible for purchasing scrap metal (from dealers and inter-company sources). The incumbent will also be responsible for developing and maintaining exceptional business relationships with both new and existing clients. This position requires a dynamic and proactive individual capable of working collaboratively with all company personnel and departments as well as with customers and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Purchase scrap metal to ensure tonnage targets are met or exceeded while optimizing profit margins;
- Visit dealers and industrial suppliers either by phone or in person to promote new and repeat business provide quotations offer customer service respond to inquiries handle complaints and build strong relationships;
- Prospect and develop new clients;
- Build and maintain reliable networks to stay informed on up-to-date buying / selling prices and local and regional market trends;
- Negotiate new contracts with clients;
- Conduct P&L analyses;
- Use knowledge of sorting and processing operations to make pricing decisions that maximize profitability;
- Coordinate with administrative staff and the sales team to ensure accurate and timely documentation of all purchase transactions;
- Provide feedback and recommendations on scrap purchasing prices for AIM-operated yards;
- Carry out special projects as assigned;
- Manage and coach the team;
- Perform any other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- College diploma in Business Sales or Marketing (or equivalent education or experience);
- 3 years of experience (experience in the recycling industry or with ferrous and non-ferrous metals is an asset);
- Valid Class 5 drivers license;
- Strong customer service communication and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent mathematical problem-solving and negotiation abilities;
- Some knowledge of metal alloy identification is an asset though not required;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Ability to travel across the designated territory;
- Familiarity with various CRM systems (an asset);
- Bilingual (French / English) considered an asset for the Quebec region;
- Demonstrated leadership skills;
- Excellent communication abilities;
- Strong team player;
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret results;
- Ability to set and manage priorities in a fast-paced high-pressure environment;
- Solid understanding of organizational management principles.
