Job summary

Advance Auto Parts is seeking a Retail Parts Pro in London, Ontario, to provide advanced DIY sales and automotive problem resolution. The role entails expert knowledge of store operations, automotive systems, and parts sourcing, while delivering excellent customer service.

Successful candidates will possess strong communication skills and a background in automotive parts. The anticipated compensation ranges from CAD 17.95 to CAD 21.55 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of prior automotive parts experience.
  • Proven sales ability with past experience in fulfillment of customer transactions.
  • Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively.

Job Description

Advanced level DIY sales position with expert knowledge of DIY business. The role is responsible for providing advanced automotive problem resolution, including identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers. The position requires expert knowledge of store operations, advanced automotive system knowledge, and parts knowledge, as well as the ability to source parts from multiple channels such as special order, FDO, and second source. A deep understanding of store inventory and maintenance processes is essential, and fleet safety is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Best in class customer service and DIY issue resolution
  • Provide GAS3 selling experience for all DIY customers, including walk‑in, online orders, and phone
  • Achieve personal/store sales goals and service objectives
  • Manage DIY services, including testing, battery installation, and wiper installs
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and store appearance
  • Key holder responsibilities (task assignment and completion, safety, open/close duties)
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Assist in store inventory processes including POGs, truck put‑away, shoot‑outs, cycle counts, and back stock
  • Back up professional services
  • Maintain store cleanliness, including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot

Essential Job Skills for Success as a Retail Parts Pro
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic ability (internal engine, suspension, brakes, electronic, exhaust, etc.)
  • Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers, and management
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals; write simple correspondence
  • Understand and execute written, oral, or diagram instructions
  • Successfully complete the Parts Knowledge Assessment
  • Use basic math accurately (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure
  • Use Microsoft software effectively (Word, Excel required)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Prior Experience that Sets a Retail Parts Pro up for Success

Physical Demands

The employee must be able to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and perform tasks that require close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is usually working inside; however, they may occasionally work outside and be exposed to various weather conditions during tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades. The employee may also be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this role ranges from 17.95 CAD to 21.55 CAD per hour for a new team member. The exact rate offered depends on geographic location, experience in retail automotive service, automotive knowledge, education, leadership roles, and other skill sets that are ideal for this position, as well as shift differential (if applicable).
