Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Sales Executive to focus on our comprehensive legal suite for small Canadian law firms (1-10 attorneys). You will drive revenue growth by connecting ambitious firms with our legal research, practice management, and workflow tools, while supporting digital transformation across Canada.

Responsibilities include prospecting, territory planning, account management, forecasting, and CRM data contribution.

Qualifications

  • University degree (business or equivalent) or equivalent business experience.
  • Ability to prospect new customers, cold calling, closing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
  • Knowledge of the Canadian legal market is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prospecting to identify law firms interested in Thomson Reuters online products/services.
  • Developing plans for effective coverage of the assigned territory.
  • Preparing and tracking account plans and forecasting sales.
  • Generating growth by pursuing new prospects and following up on leads.
  • Building relationships with existing customers to support retention.
  • Providing client/prospect data for the CRM system.
  • Reporting on sales activity, market trends, and competitors.

As a Sales Executive focusing on our comprehensive legal suite for small Canadian law firms (1-10 attorneys), you'll have the unique opportunity to help these practices overcome their most pressing challenges while significantly enhancing their operational efficiency. This role combines your passion for relationship building with the satisfaction of delivering solutions that genuinely impact how Canadian legal professionals serve their clients. By connecting ambitious law firms with our powerful legal research, practice management, and workflow tools, you'll not only drive revenue growth but also participate in the digital transformation of an entire profession across Canada's diverse legal markets.

About The Role
  • Prospecting in order to identify new firms interested in Thomson Reuters on-line products/services
  • Creating and implementing plans for the effective coverage of assigned territory
  • Preparing and tracking the effectiveness of account plans; Forecasting sales
  • Generating sales growth by pursuing new prospects, following up on leads from a variety of sources
  • Building relationships with existing customers in support of customer retention strategies
  • Providing client/prospect data for the CRM system
  • Reporting weekly/monthly on all sales activity, market trends, competitor information, etc.
About You
  • A university degree (business or professional) or equivalent business experience
  • Ability to develop new customer accounts requiring heavy prospecting, cold calling, closing ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Highly proficient in MS Office suite, utilizing a CRM (such as Salesforce preferred) and overall technical aptitude
  • Knowledge of the legal framework within Canada will be considered an asset

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The target total cash compensation range varies across locations. For Ontario, Canada, the target total cash compensation range for this role is $95,000 CAD - $145,000 CAD. Pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay and any target sales incentive are part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. Target total cash compensation ranges are inclusive of both base pay and any target sales incentive.
