Job summary

Doidge Building Centres Ltd., operating as Rona in Port Hope, is seeking a Sales Associate to deliver exceptional service, drive sales, and protect gross margin while guiding customers through product selections.

You will develop relationships with retail, professional, and contractor customers, support merchandising initiatives, manage inventory, and participate in vendor training. Flexible availability and a hands-on approach are essential.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in the building and construction industry preferred.
• Exemplary listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible availability based on store needs (includes evenings and weekends).
• Physically demanding; use of ladders, climbing and lifting techniques when required (up to 50 lbs).
• First aid trained an asset.

Job description

The Sales Associate is a key customer-facing role responsible for delivering exceptional service standards and maximizing sales and gross margin while providing the customers with the best shopping experience possible. The Sales Associate will develop and maintain effective sales and oversee specific sales areas designated by the Branch Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to:

• Motivate and influence sales performance with positive feedback and recognition
• Build strong and lasting relationships with our retail, professional, and contractor customers
• Assists customers with their information/product requirements in the store or over the telephone. Processes sales and special orders
• Understands and executes merchandising and marketing initiatives developed by management
• Ensure inventory integrity and identify potential sources of inventory losses.
• Executes corrective measures as required in conjunction with the Branch Manager
• Shrink conscious and works diligently to reduce loss
• Assists with other team members’ training on sales and service techniques
• Opportunities exist for RONA training programs and formal/informal vendor training
• Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in the building and construction industry preferred
• Positive attitude and proven ability to work with the team in a culture of sales and service
• Exemplary listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Effective time management and problem-solving skills
• Flexible availability based on store needs (includes evenings and weekends)
• Proficient computer skills and basic math skills
• Able to set priorities and deliver results within deadlines
• Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
• Physically demanding; Use of ladders, climbing and lifting techniques when required. Light and medium lifting (up to 50 lbs.) are a component of this position
• First aid trained an asset
