I. Job Summary
The Safety Manager/Trainer plans and directs all onsite Safety related activities at client location in relation to the storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and other related services following federal, provincial & local regulations.
Schedule/Shift: This role will work M-F 3pm-11:30pm or will alternate 1 week of days/1 week of nights.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
- Works closely with Project Manager and supervisors and Sustainability Services EH&S Teams to understand, support, and align safety strategy, goals, and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with client and government regulations by performing necessary inspections and reporting.
- Promote culture of safety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, federal, state and local regulations.
Lead all safety/ISO related activities including:
- Lead incident/injury investigations
- Establish/update JHAs
- Ensure quarterly training and monthly SATs are complete
- Track safety points and ensure team members are up to date
- Complete quarterly ISO Submittals
- Update ISO documents as needed
- Complete and submit weekly equipment reporting
- Ensure pre/post trip equipment inspections are complete
- Ensure al new hire onboarding and safety training (safety policies and procedures including HECP)
- Complete new hire equipment training (including forklift etc.) are completed
- Coordinate new employee participation in EHS Orientation
III. Supervisory Responsibilities
The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory employees. This includes:
- Indirect supervision of approximately 10 to 40 full‑time operations level employees.
IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Environmental Sciences, Accounting, Business or related field, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience.
- Experience: Two (2) years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).
B. Preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional.
- Certified Health and Safety Consultant
- Certified Safety Professional

- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the work day;

- Normal setting for this job is: indoor and outdoor with frequent visits to sites
