ACSA is seeking an active and community-oriented Safety Coordinator to support the creation and management of three safety tables in North Scarborough, South Scarborough and East York/Don Valley. This initiative is focused on enhancing community safety through the creation of localized, place-based safety networks that bring together community safety groups, residents, organizations, local businesses, and other stakeholders throughout the East District communities.

About the Role

  • Lead, in partnership with City of Toronto, the creation and sustainability of the three East District Safety Tables and an East District Safety Table Forum
  • Support the creation and sustainability of new and existing localized safety networks by providing resources, training and ongoing capacity building opportunities.
  • Support and empower communities to create safety plans and access funding to address safety concerns proactively.
  • Work with residents and groups to increase resident engagement and group capacity, ensuring resident voices remain at the center of the safety table’s work.
  • Collect and share information about local safety concerns, trends, and best practices with network members and citywide partners, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.

About you:

  • Post-secondary education in Community Development, Social Work, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in community engagement, safety coordination, or related initiatives.
  • Lived experience and/or experience working with marginalized communities and families impacted by gun violence, human trafficking, food scarcity, unemployment, mental health, and cross-community conflict.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse populations and facilitate inclusive conversations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of Scarborough’s community landscape and local safety challenges.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new reporting systems.

Contract, full-time employment, with benefits after 6 months

Hourly Rate: $31.50/hr
