Position Overview
Challenger Geomatics is looking to hire an experienced Safety Advisor / Administrator to join our team in our Sherwood Park, Alberta office. Reporting to the Corporate Safety & Quality Assurance Manager, the Safety Advisor / Administrator will assist in ensuring the execution of several occupational health and safety duties as per Challenger's Health and Safety Program and will assist the Field Resource Manager with equipment and fleet maintenance.
Safety Related Responsibilities (not all inclusive)
- Ordering, collecting, distributing personal protective equipment, and maintaining inventory
- Arranging client, site, and online orientations
- Responsible for new employee orientations, safety training and paperwork
- Maintaining monthly safety hours and statistics reporting for clients
- Hosting / Participating in field and in office staff safety meetings
- Creating project safety plans and emergency response plans, as well as job hazard assessments
- Carrying out incident investigations and reviews, field crew inspections, and office / warehouse inspections, along with any corrective action required
- Maintaining fire extinguishers and first aid kits (office, warehouse + field crews)
- Tracking safety training certificates, booking in-person and online safety training courses
- Ensuring office safety, including fire warden duties, emergency response plans, evacuations, and maintaining the first aiders list
- Maintaining employee driver authorizations
- Assisting with preparation, planning, and execution of internal and external safety audits
- Booking drug and alcohol and fitness for work tests, and providing clients with clearance letters
- Developing task, site, and position-based hazard assessments, and safe work practices
- Maintaining the WHMIS / MSDS program
- Assisting Corporate Safety & Quality Assurance Manager with safety manual updates and other corporate safety program tasks, as required
Other Responsibilities (not all inclusive)
- Booking field crew flights and hotel rooms
- Assisting the Field Resource Manager with vehicle equipment and maintenance
Qualifications
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or National Construction Safety Administrator (NCSA) designation, or Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Excellent knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety. Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated leadership skills
- Experience in an Occupational Health and Safety role within a Geomatics, Engineering, Oil & Gas, or Construction industry is an asset
