Job summary

A specialized industrial services company in Calgary is seeking a Safety Advisor to ensure compliance with OHS regulations and promote safety on-site. Responsibilities include supporting personnel, conducting hazard assessments, delivering safety training, and maintaining safety equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong safety focus and prior experience in a safety role. Required certifications include NCSO or CRSP, First Aid, and H2S Alive specific to Alberta. Total Group of Companies is an industrial service company specializing in fire, rescue, medical, and HSE services. With facilities in Red Deer, Guelph, Elora, and Winnipeg, we proudly service clients across Canada.

We are seeking a Safety Advisor for Total Group of Companies who is safety-driven, proactive, and comfortable working in the field to support crews, identify hazards, deliver safety training, and ensure compliance with OHS requirements - while being personable, approachable, and eager to join a strong, collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support site personnel in working safely and in compliance with OHS requirements

  • Conduct hazard identification, assessment, and control

  • Set up, inspect, and maintain safety equipment and PPE

  • Monitor work activities and exercise stop-work authority when required

  • Report hazards, near misses, incidents, and injuries in a timely manner

  • Deliver safety orientations and task-specific training

  • Perform gas monitoring, confined space monitoring, and rescue support as required

  • Assist with general site housekeeping and safety oversight

Qualifications & Attributes
  • Safety-driven with a strong attention to detail

  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong communication and basic computer skills

  • Willingness to learn and follow established procedures

  • Authorized to work in Canada and 19 years of age or older

  • Valid driver’s license with minimum 3 years’ driving experience and acceptable abstract

  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 75lbs

  • Willing and able to travel and work outdoors in varying conditions

  • Able to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing

  • Previous experience in a safety role

  • Strong working knowledge of OH&S legislation and specialized PPE
