Job summary

Northern Lights Public Schools is looking for a part-time Early Childhood Assistant at Iron River School to support a developmentally appropriate program and assist with daily operations. The role runs 11:20 am to 3:20 pm, Monday through Friday, at Iron River School with about 95 students from Preschool to Grade 8.

The ideal candidate will have Level 1–3 Early Child Care Certificate and First Aid certification, plus strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of child development and licensing

Qualifications

S2627-69 Early Childhood Assistant - Iron River School

We are seeking a part-time (0.615 FTE) Early Childhood Assistant commencing as soon as possible. The assignment involves working from 11:20 am to 3:20 pm Monday to Friday and includes assisting in implementing the effective day to day operations of the program, ensuring appropriate supervision, smooth transitions, and consistent routines.

Iron River School is located in the community of Iron River with approximately 95 students in Preschool to grade 8. Preference will be given to applicants who have :

• Level 1, 2 or 3 Early Child Care Certificate First Aid Certification
• Knowledge and experience working in an early childhood or school-aged care setting
• Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Extensive understanding of child development theories and best practices
• Working knowledge of Alberta Childcare Licensing Regulations
• Familiarity with NLPS program philosophies, policies, and operational procedures
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
