Job description

Position

Program Worker - Work Experience (35 hours per week). The current rate of pay is $32.40 per hour plus 16.3% in lieu of benefits.

Qualifications

Grade 12 education supplemented by post‑secondary program certificate in public relations and/or marketing in relevant career preparation fields; minimum of two years current relevant experience in public relations and/or marketing or job placement position; thorough familiarity with the local community; proficient in Microsoft Office Programs; typing speed of 40 wpm; strong interpersonal skills and effective organizational and coordinating ability; ability to advocate on behalf of all students; valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s licence and licence appropriate to the type of equipment/vehicle being operated and personal vehicle available for use on the job; meets the physical requirements of the position; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Duties / Responsibilities

Duties are performed under the supervision of the school Principal or Vice Principal or designate; seeks out initiates and coordinates work experience opportunities in the community; prepares and maintains student and employer files records and correspondence; liaises with employers school‑based and district staff students and parents; monitors the performance of secondary students some with special needs in both individual and small group work settings; works as a team to serve the needs of employer groups in the work experience program; liaises with teachers Principal Vice Principals and parents on work‑study components; promotes the work experience program through participation in school/community activities; follows proper work procedures observes all regulations pertinent to the work maintains a good working relationship with other employees and cooperates in maintaining a healthy learning and working environment; performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor; student supervision as required by the Principal or Vice Principal.
