About the role:

The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC) is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Reporting to the Manager of Labour & Delivery and Maternal Newborn, you will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to a patient population with predictable outcomes. As part of a multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Professional Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Philosophy of patient and family centered care, mission vision, values and the policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:
  • Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current certification in BCLS
  • Recent experience in Maternity and Perinatal Nursing with experience in breastfeeding support and the care of complex patient populations, including postoperative surgical patients
  • Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
  • Collaborates with Registered Nurse's when patients assigned to the Registered Practical Nurse become unstable or have outcomes that are not as expected
  • Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
  • Strong interprofessional and communication skills
Preference for Applicants:
  • Have certification or recent continuing education in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), lactation support, perinatal or high risk perinatal nursing

Salary Range: $37,175 to $38,160
