Job summary

LAING is seeking an experienced roofing professional to join our teams across various locations in Canada. You will install built-up and single-ply roofing systems, read blueprints, and ensure work meets specifications.

This role involves instructing apprentices and supervising crew members on site. Applicants should have 5+ years in roofing, be comfortable working at heights, and be able to operate power tools and handle scaffolding and rigging.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of roofing experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
• Willingness to work at heights and outdoors.
• Experience instructing apprentices and supervising workers.

Responsibilities

• Install built-up roofing systems using asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel.
• Install single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials.
• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements.
• Repair or replace shingles and shakes on sloped roofs.
• Repair roofing systems and supervise apprentices.
• Instruct apprentices and supervise other workers.
• Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools.
• Install sheet metal flashings and erect scaffolding and rigging.
• Cut materials with power tools or by hand.

• Install built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel
• Install single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials, such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions
• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
• Repair or replace shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings
• Repair roofing systems
• Instruct apprentices
• Supervise other workers
• Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools
• Install sheet metal flashings
• Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms
• Cut materials using power tools or by hand
• Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment
