Job summary

Sandvik Mining in Prince George is seeking an entry-level Rock Tools Technician. You will receive hands-on training to inspect, repair and manage rock tools under the guidance of an experienced team.

No mining experience is required; the role emphasizes mechanical aptitude, safety, and a strong willingness to learn. Duties include stock management, tool delivery, and using the Rock Tools Management System to monitor performance.

Qualifications

• Completion of Secondary School (High school).
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude and an interest in understanding how tools and equipment work.
• Hands-on experience gained through work, school, volunteering, hobbies or personal projects is welcome; previous mining experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Learn to manage rock tools inventory and track new issues, discards and losses.
• Inspect, repair and maintain rock tools to defined specifications, with training and support from the team.
• Organize and deliver rock tools products to the customer.
• Learn to use the Rock Tools Management System to monitor and report on tool performance.
• Observe tool condition and help identify wear, damage, improper use or incorrect product selection.
• Share observations, questions and improvement ideas with the Supervisor and Sandvik Sales and Service Representatives.
• Complete accurate time records, technical reports and failure reports.
• Build positive working relationships with the rock tools team and with internal and external customers.
• Perform daily and weekly stock counts and help keep the work area organized.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

You will work with specialized mining tools, learn how they are inspected, maintained and tracked, and gain practical experience with the support of an experienced team. No previous mining experience is required‑bring your mechanical aptitude, safety mindset and willingness to learn, and we will help you build the skills for the role.

Your hands‑on experience counts. If you enjoy repairing equipment, working on vehicles, building things or figuring out how mechanical parts work, you may already have the foundation we are looking for. Experience from a shop, construction, automotive work, farming, school, volunteering, hobbies or personal projects is welcome.
