Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking Roadway Design Engineers to provide roadway facility design services for projects in the Ottawa and Kingston areas. Responsibilities include preparing documentation, project management, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, be a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario, and have at least five years of roadway design experience.

Qualifications

  • Five years directly related roadway design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with geometric design of roadway facilities.
  • Knowledge of Ontario / Canadian traffic engineering standards.

Job description
Roadway Design Engineers (2 - Ottawa & Kingston)
Position Summary

Reporting to the Branch Manager, your main focus will be providing roadway facility design services to clients in the Kingston or Ottawa Areas.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide clients with roadway facility functional, preliminary and detailed design services, including work on : rural highways; rural and urban roadways; intersection design; and interchange design, guide-rails, signing, pavement markings, profiles, cross sections, and estimating quantities
  • Prepare documentation related to current or prospective projects, including correspondence, reports, proposals, expression’s of interest, specifications and meeting minutes
  • Carry out project management activities such as project team co‑ordination, monitoring schedule and budget compliance and invoice preparation
  • Participate on steering committees and provide input to Class Environmental Assessments
  • Check drawings and quantities
  • Construction inspection / administration
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario, or eligible for registration
  • Five years directly related roadway design experience
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and writing skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Demonstrated experience with geometric design of roadway facilities (urban and rural).
  • Knowledge of, and experience with the application of Ontario / Canadian traffic engineering standards (Geometric Design Standards for Ontario Highways, TAC Geometric Design Guide, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control, etc.)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, LDD, AutoTurn (desirable)
  • Previous consulting experience an asset
  • Valid Driver's license
