A leading insurance company in Alberta is seeking an Investigative Case Lead to perform field investigations and produce actionable reports. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of experience in surveillance or field investigation, strong analytical and decision-making skills, and the ability to work independently. Act as Case Lead and perform discreet field investigations using stationary and mobile surveillance strategies.
Maintain broad, last minute availability to attend to critical investigative needs.
Utilize proactive case management to maintain agility and ensure stakeholders are updated & aware of investigative findings in a timely manner.
Produce succinct and actionable reports based on evidence gathered.
Observe strict privacy requirements and ensure all investigations align with applicable legislation & regulation.
Adhere to best practices related to investigation, safety, risk management, and the law.
Maintain an acceptable driving record throughout your employment.
Take part in projects and broader department strategies and initiatives.
Conduct investigative assistance/tasks as assigned
Establish investigation strategy, gather and analyze facts, manage case file, and ensure proper documentation and collection of physical or electronic evidence
Assist stationary investigators with field investigation, as required
Determine when an investigation is ready for disposition
Prepare case brief for defending a case disposition or enabling internal or external prosecutions
Liaise with Fraud Management or other investigative team colleagues, and the Claim, Underwriting, and Legal operations
Evaluate evidence sufficiency on an ongoing basis until the validity of the issue(s) in question can be determined
Attend court as directed
Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience
CIP designation or working towards CIP an asset
Minimum 3+ years in surveillance / field investigation
Demonstrated ability to operate for extended periods in austere environments and conditions.
Experience working alone under minimal supervision for extended periods.
Strong operational risk assessment and control skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Class 5 License with an acceptable driving record
Confidence in making objective decisions in high-risk or legally sensitive matters
Solid understanding of surveillance case law and applicable privacy legislation
First Responder / Military Experience / Law Enforcement / Private Investigation considered an asset.
Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Valid driver’s licence
Mobility across Canada, as required
