Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Ontario is seeking a Regular Part-Time Registered Nurse for the Inpatient Surgical Unit in Stratford. The ideal candidate will be a recent registered member with the College of Nurses and have a BLS certificate, alongside preferred clinical experience in acute care surgery. The hourly wage ranges from $40.24 to $57.68 based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Recent/related courses in Surgical Nursing required.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate intravenous therapy and care for central lines.
  • Monitor glucose levels and manage post-operative PCA pumps.
  • Administer medications and conduct physical assessments.

Salary

$40.24 to $57.68 per hour

Qualifications
  • Current registered member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BLS certificate required
  • Recent clinical experience (minimum 2 years) in Pre/Post-Operative Acute Care Surgery (including general surgery, plastics, vascular, orthopaedic, gynaecology, urological and EENT) preferred
  • Recent/related courses, in-services in Surgical Nursing
Experience
  • Venepuncture - Initiation of Intravenous Therapy
  • Central Venous/PIC Lines - care and maintenance, bloodletting and discontinuation
  • Administration of Medications Below the Drip Chamber
  • Glucose Monitoring
  • Post-Operative PCA Pump
  • Fluid and Electrolytes and Blood work
  • Physical Assessment Course with good assessment skills
  • TPN Management
  • Enteral Feeding
  • Chest Tube Management
  • Wound packings and vacuum
Skills/Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability in patient education
  • Ability to plan, organize and problem solve
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Clinical documentation using the Meditech Information System
