Job Description: Kumsheen is looking for a River Lunch Coordinator this season to join our team of energetic, adventurous, and friendly staff. This is a great opportunity to work & live in one of the most beautiful areas in BC, at an incredible family‑run adventure resort. This position is currently scheduled from early‑May to late‑September 2026.

About the position: Kumsheen’s River Lunch Coordinator (RLC) is responsible for all aspects of providing lunch for rafting trips. Beginning at the onsite Resort kitchen, the River Lunch Coordinator calculates, preps, and packs all food and supplies required to serve the famous Kumsheen burrito lunch riverside to our hungry full‑day rafters. Before the rafters arrive, the RLC sets up the lunch site ensuring everything is ready on schedule and up to Kumsheen’s standard. After lunch is complete, the RLC is responsible for dismantling, cleaning, and returning it all to the Resort, in time to begin prep for the next day.

In addition to lunch duties, the RLC will also often assist with other river trip related duties including transporting a trailer with raft(s) to the lunch site on most days, and completing trip photography on drive back to the resort. This position is extremely dynamic and

The RLC oversees prep staff, works closely with the Guest Experience, Restaurant and River Operation managers, and works under the overall direction of the General Manager/AGM.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating lunches for all rafting trips including daily departures of the full‑day Legendary Thompson and the half‑day Devil’s Gorge Run, as well as special departures (Upper Thompson, Fraser River Hell’s Gate, Raft Guide School) packed lunches
  • Prepping food, including calculating the correct amount of food depending on the number of rafters, dicing/slicing vegetables, cooking rice, etc.
  • Schedule and supervise any staff assisting in the River Lunch Department with above prep
  • Packing all coolers, drink carafes, and required supplies and transporting all to the riverside lunch site located about 20 minutes from the Kumsheen Resort
  • Daily set‑up and take‑down of the lunch site, including tables, drink station, garbage and recycling cans, lawn games, etc.
  • Basic maintenance of the lunch site including: picking up garbage, cleaning picnic tables, cleaning outhouses, notifying the campground team when lawn mowing is needed, etc.
  • Inventory and ordering of all food/stock/supplies
  • Maintenance/cleaning/sanitization of the River Lunch kitchen
  • Regularly assisting with raft/trailer shuttle (alongside regular transportation)
  • Assisting with rafting trip photography
  • Assisting with general Restaurant prep or serving, or coffee bar as needed

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Extremely organized with close attention to detail

  • Positive attitude and a great team player
  • Basic food prep skills
  • Physically fit with the ability to lift and carry 50lbs
  • Valid driver’s license is required, with experience driving/reversing trailers
  • FOODSAFE Level 1 is required
  • Experience working in a kitchen or cafe is an asset
  • Experience with a DSLR is an asset
