Job summary

RECRUITMENT PARTNERS INC. is seeking a seasoned Risk Manager in Calgary to lead enterprise-wide risk identification, assessment, and mitigation across trading and oil & gas operations.

You will oversee risk reporting, hedging strategies, and compliance, partnering with trading, finance, accounting, and legal teams to ensure exposures stay within approved limits and support informed business decisions. 8+ years of experience and a strong quantitative skillset are required.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of risk management experience in oil & gas trading or financial risk environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; CFA, FRM, CPA, PRM, or Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Strong expertise in quantitative risk analysis, derivatives, valuation, risk modeling, and hedging strategies.
  • Deep understanding of oil & gas markets, pricing, liquidity, P&L, and exposure management.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience with forward curves, market pricing indices (Platts, Argus), and risk/ETRM systems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Python, SQL, and ETRM platform experience are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide identification, assessment, and monitoring of market, credit, liquidity, operational, and financial risks.
  • Develop and maintain risk methodologies, models, frameworks, KRIs, stress testing, and exposure monitoring.
  • Oversee risk limits, governance, escalations, remediation, and compliance with risk appetite and controls.
  • Challenge and validate trading strategies, portfolio risks, and front-office risk assumptions.
  • Assess and manage counterparty credit exposures, collateral positions, and creditworthiness.
  • Deliver risk reporting, analytics, and insights to senior leadership, including Board-level support.
  • Partner with trading, finance, accounting, and legal teams to evaluate transactions and implement risk mitigation strategies, including hedging and diversification.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce risk management policies, governance, controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ensure data integrity, ETRM alignment, reporting accuracy, and forward-looking scenario analysis to support decision-making.
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams while promoting a strong culture of risk management, governance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Job description
