Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are looking for a Risk Lead to develop a project risk management strategy and support the facilitation of risk management activities across assigned projects. This role will be accountable for developing, measuring and monitoring Key Risk Indicators (KRIs). In addition the Risk Lead will be accountable for quantitative risk modeling (cost and schedule) across assigned projects, including the data integrity contained therein. To establish and enhance cross‑functional integration of risk management with other supporting functions the Risk Lead will plan and facilitate deep‑dive risk workshops with internal and external stakeholders, be accountable by providing insights based on risk management outcomes and ensuring the project is delivered on budget and on risk schedule. The Risk Lead will have an active role in continuous improvement and maturity of the risk management function.

What will I be doing
  • Responsible for delivering risk management across assigned complex project(s) within a program.
  • Supports the development of Risk Management Plans, risk registers, key risk indicators and various reporting through meeting with risk owners hosting deep‑dive workshops to identify and assess risks, development and follow up of action plans, and the identification of quantitative risk indicators to track how risk exposures may be developing/trending.
  • Develop run and assure detailed quantitative risk analysis models (both cost and schedule) to support options analysis, commercial decision‑making, contractual risk‑transfer strategies, inform the setting of appropriate project‑level contingency (both cost and schedule), and to support the agile use of contingency on a programmatic basis (e.g. drawdown).
  • Engages with external partners/authorities to conduct joint risk reviews and mitigations.
  • Responsible for producing and presenting/reporting metrics and performing regular data analysis with associated tracking & reporting.
  • Creates an environment of continuous improvement, opens channels of communication that invite suggestions and innovative thinking, and proactively seeks best practices providing top quality of services by the signage service and projects team.
  • Develop and maintain an environment of positive collaboration through strong working relationships and linkages between business units and departments and between Metrolinx and others.
  • Identifies project risks via leading and facilitating workshops with various internal and external stakeholders (e.g., project controls engineers and project managers).
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Analytics Engineering, Construction Management, Business) or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Demonstrated years of experience in progressively advancing roles within risk management related role, preferably in a civil infrastructure construction project environment or a combination of experience and education deemed equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience with various contracting model types.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience implementing or supporting project controls within construction project environment.
  • Expert knowledge and experience using industry standard software packages and applications: Active Risk Manager (ARM), Safran Primavera Risk Analysis (PRA), @Risk.
  • Demonstrable skilled experience in risk management theory principles and practice.
  • Expert knowledge of the broader project controls theory principles and practice.
  • Articulate with practiced presentation, attention to detail, excellent verbal & written presentation and communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge and experience of successfully managing competing objectives of stakeholders and recognizing materiality.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills to analyze problems, detect root causes and propose solutions.
  • Expert in addressing and engaging project managers and other key stakeholders one‑on‑one and in a workshop environment.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of management and excellent verbal and writing skills to support reporting requirements.
  • MS Office skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Certifications or designations preferred: PMI Certified Risk Management or Project Management Professional, Canadian Risk Management (CRM).
