Job description

Our client is a leading, employee-owned Canadian insurance brokerage with a strong national presence. They specialize in complex and niche risks across industries such as mining, oil & gas, cyber, aviation, life sciences, and risk consulting. As the firm continues to expand in Western Canada, they are seeking a Risk Consultant with expertise in the mining sector to join its growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work with clients ranging from small enterprises to billion-dollar operations, while travelling domestically and internationally to support risk management for both new and existing clients.

Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site risk assessments for operations in mining, oil & gas and infrastructure, including exposure mapping and loss-prevention strategies.
  • Develop and present detailed risk-consulting reports, underwriting summaries and client improvement plans.
  • Support business-development efforts: identify opportunities, engage with clients, brokers and insurers, and contribute to practice growth.
  • Travel across Canada and internationally for site visits and client engagements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, using specialist tools to deliver actionable risk outcomes.
Qualifications
  • 10-15 years’ experience in engineering, risk consulting or operations within mining or oil & gas.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, safety, risk or a related field; professional designation (e.g., CRM, ARM) is an asset.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills; ability to convert technical risk data into clear recommendations.
  • Proven ability to travel, manage projects and deliver on tight deadlines and complex engagements.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is an asset.
