Job summary

IFG - International Financial Group is seeking an experienced Risk Analyst - Expert to join the Risk Management team on a project focused on regulatory governance and control enhancement. The role centers on advisory, testing, QA of external audit testing, and collaboration with internal partners and external auditors.

The assignment is for approximately two months through October 31, 2026, with potential extension and FTE conversion based on performance.

Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years of professional experience in risk management, internal audit, regulatory compliance, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in control advisory and/or control testing, preferably within Risk Management or Audit.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on internal audit and control testing experience.
  • Strong experience with risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks and requirements.
  • Experience assessing control design and operating effectiveness.
  • Experience conducting walkthroughs, reviewing RFIs, evaluating evidence, and documenting testing results.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, audit methodologies, and risk management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support a regulatory governance initiative focused on linking regulatory requirements to appropriate controls and evaluating control effectiveness.
  • Act as a Control Advisor supporting Risk Management Lines of Business in identifying, documenting, assessing, and enhancing controls related to regulatory compliance risks.
  • Coordinate closely with external audit partners and internal Risk Management business partners throughout the control testing process.
  • Collect, organize, and review control documentation and respond to RFIs.
  • Participate in control walkthroughs and facilitate timely responses to auditor follow-ups and information requests.
  • Perform QA reviews of external testing results, assess testing documentation, provide sign-off, and support resolution of identified issues.
  • Conduct business-as-usual control testing, including walkthroughs, RFI assessment, control design evaluation, and operating effectiveness testing.
  • Collaborate with business partners to identify control gaps, address issues, and implement process improvements.
  • Track testing timelines, deliverables, and action items to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to controls, risk assessments, testing results, and audit findings.
  • Analyze operational, legal, market, credit, strategic, and liquidity risks to support effective risk management.
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and assess their potential impact on existing controls and risk management practices.
  • Provide recommendations for control enhancements and process improvements based on testing and risk analysis.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of control frameworks, risk policies, and procedures.

Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is looking for an experienced Risk Analyst - Expert to join its Risk Management team and support a major regulatory governance and control enhancement initiative. This role will focus on control advisory, control testing, quality assurance of external audit testing, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with internal business partners and external audit partners.

Contract: Approximately 2 months, through October 31, 2026

Extension: Potential

FTE Conversion: Potential based on performance and business needs

Hybrid: 2 days per week onsite - Wednesdays, Thursdays, and the 1st Friday of the month

Key Responsibilities
