Job summary

NAC Constructors Ltd. is seeking a ticketed Rigger/Swamper for our Dalewood Water Reclamation Facility project in St. Thomas, Ontario.

You will attach loads, select rigging hardware, and control heavy equipment safely under the direction of the crane operator and civil superintendent. Candidates must have 3+ years in heavy construction, a valid Rigging Ticket, knowledge of hand signals, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with cranes and hoisting/rigging equipment.
  • Valid Rigging Ticket.
  • Knowledge of rigging hand signals and site communication.
  • WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform, and Fall Arrest certificates required.
  • Experience at water treatment plants or heavy industrial sites is an asset.
  • Experience operating a skid steer and/or telehandler is an asset.
  • Strong teamwork and safety mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Attach loads to rigging gear and move them safely.
  • Select appropriate bolts, clamps, shackles and slings for each attachment.
  • Operate rigging lines, hoists, and related equipment safely.
  • Ensure rigging gear, cables, pulleys and equipment are suitable for the load.
  • Communicate with crane operators and crew using hand signals and clear dialogue.
  • Inspect and maintain rigging gear and report issues.
  • Keep equipment clean, organized and stored for the next shift.

NAC is currently seeking a ticketed Rigger/Swamper for our new Dalewood Water Reclamation Facility project in St. Thomas, ON. Under the direction of the certified crane operator and Civil Superintendent the Rigger/Samper will possess 3+ years’ experience working in the heavy construction industry.

Job Description
  • Attaching loads to rigging machinery in order to move them safely from one location to another.
  • Ensuring the appropriate size and type of bolts, clamps, shackles, slings, and other rigging hardware are used for each attachment.
  • Manipulating rigging lines, hoists, and related equipment to control and safely position heavy equipment or materials.
  • Ensuring selected cables, pulleys, winches, and other rigging equipment are suitable for the weight and configuration of the load.
  • Communicating effectively with crane operators, construction staff, and other crew members using verbal communication and standardized hand signals to ensure the safe and correct movement of heavy equipment and materials.
  • Testing and setting up rigging equipment prior to each lift or movement to ensure safety, stability, and maneuverability.
  • Ensuring compliance with safe hoisting and rigging practices throughout all stages of the rigging process.
  • Performing hoisting and rigging equipment cleanup, inspection, and routine maintenance to ensure equipment remains safe, clean, and ready for use.
  • Inspecting rigging gear for signs of wear, damage, or defects and reporting any issues as required.
  • Ensuring all rigging gear, tools, and equipment are properly cleaned, maintained, organized, and stored for the next shift.
  • Assembling and dismantling rigging equipment at the beginning and end of each shift or as required.
  • Following all applicable workplace health and safety procedures and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with cranes, including Tower Cranes, and with hoisting and rigging equipment.
  • Possess a valid Rigging Ticket.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use proper rigging hand signals and communicate effectively with crane operators and site personnel.
  • Experience with hoisting and rigging equipment cleanup, inspection, maintenance, and proper storage.
  • Valid WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform, and Fall Arrest certificates are required.
  • Previous experience working at water treatment plants or facilities, heavy industrial sites, or high-rise construction projects would be considered an asset.
  • Experience operating a skid steer and/or telehandler would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication, positive attitude, and strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced construction environment and follow directions and established safety procedures.

$35.90 - $43.54 an hour
