Rig Mechanic – Hamilton, South Lanarkshire

Workshop-based with travel throughout Scotland (approx. 80% of the time).

First Achieve’s Engineering Division is proud to be working with a leading and forward-thinking geotechnical contractor, now seeking to add a Rig Mechanic / Plant Fitter to their growing team.

The Role

Based out of the Hamilton workshop, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and servicing a fleet of specialist plant machinery, including:

  • Rotary and sonic drilling rigs
  • Cable percussion rigs
  • Tracked support plant

This is a hands‑on, varied role that offers plenty of travel across Scotland – perfect for someone who enjoys field work, problem‑solving, and working on diverse, complex machinery.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Routine maintenance and repairs to a range of drilling and plant equipment
  • Diagnosing faults on hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Ensuring all machinery operates safely and efficiently
  • Supporting site operations across Scotland (occasional UK travel)
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Plant Fitter / Plant Mechanic
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems (drilling rig experience desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • A proactive, adaptable, and hands‑on approach
