Job description

We are seeking an experienced WRT technician with a minimum of 3 years industry experience. Candidates will be responsible for working in the field onboarding and training new technicians/labourers.

Candidates will play a key role in both the initial field training, in house training and ongoing education of each technician/labourer.

This will include the new technician/labourer IICRC training, moisture records along with ongoing education and retention of new candidates.

Bonus structure for different phases of trainee's progression including annual retention bonus will be in addition to your hourly wage.

Job Description

In addition to your training/onboarding duties as a ServiceMaster Restoration Lead/Trainer will be required to enter, lead and work job sites that have been affected by flooding, fires, mould and sewer back up. Our employees are required to perform duties in homes, businesses as well as government buildings that have been affected by emergency situations. Out of town work may be required for large losses and catastrophic events.

You will be required to form part of the rotating ON CALL team which is outside normal business hours (5 PM to 8 am). This includes weekends and holidays.

Job Duties
  • Works with technicians on the emergency response team to attend losses such as flooding/sewer backup/ fire/wind.
  • Confirms scope of work with Project Manager and/or Mitigation Manager.
  • Has the homeowner(s) or approved authority sign off on the work authorization.
  • Manages all questions on site from homeowners/business owners in a professional, dignified, knowledgeable and calming manner.
  • Responsible for safety at each work site, documents safety concerns with compliance to both the Occupational Health and Safety Codes and company policies including performing a hazard assessment before beginning work on site. As well, you will ensure compliance for all OH&S is followed by all personnel including sub trades on site.
  • Photographs and video graphs the work site before, during and after emergency work – especially pre-existing damage.
  • Ensures water readings (Daily Psychometric Readings) are documented at every loss.
  • Daily submission of accurate timesheets to payroll.
  • Completes all necessary forms: Work Authorization, Daily Psychometric Readings, Equipment Activity Reports, Job Hazard Assessment, at the completion of each emergency.
  • Provides the appropriate manager/supervisor with up to date reports on the status of the job at the end of each work day, and remains in continual contact to inform the Project Manager of any changes and calls upon all concerns.
  • Conducts vehicle maintenance inspections; cleans and maintains vehicles both inside and out.
  • Understands and implements standard protocols for Water Remediation, Mold, Asbestos and Contents handling depending on the type of loss.
  • Valid G driver’s license required.

  • Has a complete set of tools that is inventoried on a regular basis, basic carpentry skills and working knowledge of tool, sound knowledge of construction terminology.
  • Wears appropriate PPE when necessary and company attire/uniform at all times.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct working experience in disaster restoration linked to fire/water loss or related.
  • Strong Leadership and Communication abilities.
  • Proficient working and applied knowledge of demolition procedures and tear outs of affected areas in both residential and commercial buildings of various sizes.
  • Ability to remain calm in times of stress or chaotic situations.
  • Knowledge and working ability to properly use equipment in an appropriate manner such as dehumidifiers, truck mount, air scrubbers etc.
Educational Requirements
  • IICRC Certifications in WRT and FSRT are a requirement.

Hourly wage: $26.00

Bonus structure

You will receive bonuses based on technician/labourer progression and then again a retention bonus annually for each of your trainee's.
