The Role: Restaurant Manager

As the Restaurant Manager, you are the leader of the restaurant, responsible for driving sales growth and profitability while upholding A&W’s high standards of quality, service, and cleanliness. You will be the primary role model for an exceptional guest experience.

You will develop the restaurant’s business plan, set ambitious targets, and lead your team to achieve them. This involves coaching and developing a team of Assistant Managers and crew, helping them set goals, track progress, and improve performance. By empowering your team, you drive the restaurant's overall success.

A key part of your role is to energize and inspire everyone in the restaurant. This includes hiring, training, and developing a strong team to ensure a winning future for the business.

Key Performance Measures

Your success will be measured against key business objectives, including:

  • Sales growth and increased guest counts
  • Restaurant profitability and effective cost management
  • Guest satisfaction scores and feedback
  • Team member retention and turnover rates
  • Adherence to A&W’s operating and food safety standards
  • Effectiveness of staffing, scheduling, and inventory management
  • Development and progression of your management team
What You Bring

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, coach, and develop staff to achieve restaurant targets and maintain brand standards.
  • Monitor and control labour and food costs to maximize profitability.
  • Ensure excellent customer service that represents the A&W brand.
  • Lead by example, spending time on the restaurant floor to support the team during peak periods.
  • Ensure all health, safety, and food safety regulations are strictly followed.
  • Oversee hiring, training, retention, and performance management.
  • Manage inventory and assist with daily operational tasks.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Fast‑paced environment requiring the ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Involves working with hot equipment, cleaning materials, and in a noisy environment.
  • Requires mental alertness to ensure safety and the capacity to handle stressful situations.
  • Repetitive tasks are involved, including food preparation, order assembly, and cleaning.
