Job summary

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority seeks a casual, in-person Respiratory Therapy student to support the Respiratory Services department at Grace Hospital. The role involves assisting with equipment and patient care tasks, under supervision, with variable daily hours.

Ideal candidates are in 2nd or 3rd year of Respiratory Therapy, able to multitask, communicate effectively, and work well within a team. On-the-job training is provided for up to 6 months.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and in good standing.
• Preference for Max Rady Faculty of Health Science: Respiratory Therapy students.

Responsibilities

• Assist Respiratory Therapy staff in equipment setup and patient care tasks as required.
• Maintain basic computer and documentation duties per department standards.
• Support daily operations and adapt to varying shift demands.

Position Overview

Experience

• Previous related experience working with Respiratory Therapy Equipment and/or in the general field of respiratory therapy preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Currently enrolled as a 2nd or 3rd year student and in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Education Program (Preference will be given to students of the Max Rady Faculty of Health Science: Respiratory Therapy Program students).

SPECIAL TRAINING/SKILLS:

• On-the-job training (up to 6 months) is provided by the Respiratory Therapy Department.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift heavy medical equipment (up to 45 lbs.).
• Ability to push wheeled medical equipment.
• May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, radiation, toxic materials, noise, and allergens.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
