Reporting to the Manager, Critical Care and Respiratory Services, Respiratory Therapists are health‑care professionals who plan and implement a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures for patients with a wide range of heart and lung disorders. They are also responsible for the operation, quality control, and general maintenance of complex equipment. Respiratory Therapists combine technical and clinical skills to provide optimal care for the patients they serve.
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities
Required
- Current registration and in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
- Ability to work in all clinical areas throughout Brightshores Health System
- Current BCLS Certification
- Current NRP Certification
- Recent inpatient acute/critical care experience
- Ability to work in all aspects of Respiratory Therapy Services including Sleep Lab
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
- Excellent patient teaching ability
- Excellent adult teaching ability
- Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to participate in staff meetings, departmental and corporate projects
- Willingness and ability to utilize full scope of practice including intubation and arterial line insertion
- Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
- Self‑directed and able to work with minimal supervision
- Computer skills including Accessioning and Order Entry
- Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work all shifts, including weekends, on‑call, and ability for multi‑site coverage when required
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record

Preferred
- Recent experience in a hospital setting including O.R. and of hemodynamics in Critical Care and neonatal nursery
- Recent sleep lab experience
