About this Role

You are a Residential Leasing Agent based in downtown Ottawa, reporting to the Property Manager. Your focus is minimizing vacancies and delivering exceptional service to current and prospective tenants. You market properties, screen applicants daily, and ensure buildings are well‑maintained. You foster strong relationships with owners, staff, and tenants, support a positive office culture, and represent the company professionally. You also coordinate new tenant orientations and assist with office management and clerical duties, all in alignment with Taggart Realty Management’s mission, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record and update prospective tenant details and rental traffic in the database.
  • Respond to phone and email inquiries about available suites.
  • Advertise properties and conduct tours for marketing purposes.
  • Book and show apartments to prospective tenants.
  • Screen applicants to ensure eligibility.
  • Complete lease applications and assist with verification.
  • Finalize leases and submit documents to the Property Manager.
  • Create welcome packages for new tenants.
  • Communicate with the team and update move‑in/move‑out reports.
  • Inspect units at move‑in and move‑out.
  • Address tenant inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
  • Accept rent payments, deposits, and related fees.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • You bring 3 years of experience in residential leasing or rental agent roles.
  • You hold a high school diploma; a college certificate is an asset.
  • You possess strong knowledge of real estate, property management, and relevant legislation.
  • You communicate clearly, negotiate effectively, and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • You hold a valid Class G driver’s license and maintain flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel within the city.
Physical/Sensory Effort and Work Environment
  • You work primarily in an office setting, with time spent on construction sites for inspections and monitoring, including outdoor tasks.
  • You support multiple teams and departments, managing competing deadlines efficiently.
  • You stay mobile and travel to various sites as needed, with most work performed on‑site and occasional time in the office.
  • You remain flexible, occasionally working overtime to meet project demands.
