Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a dedicated Laundry Aide in Canada to support residents by collecting, sorting, washing, repairing and delivering laundry across the facility. You will handle linens and personal clothing, pre-treat stains and ensure proper washing settings and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills (oral and written).
• Experience with commercial laundry procedures and meeting physical requirements of the job.
• Ability to follow instructions and provide day-to-day feedback.
• Familiarity with standard sewing and mending techniques.
• Knowledge of proper linen care and stain removal.
• Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
• Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• To assist in the collection and sorting of soiled personal clothing and linens and pre-treat stains as required.
• To load and unload washers and dryers ensuring proper settings and adequate chemical supplies.
• To inspect soiled linens or personal laundry and perform repairs (rips, tears, buttons).
• To fold, segregate and stack linens and residents' clothing and iron as required.
• To deliver linens and clothing to appropriate areas.
• To adhere to facility policies, safety rules and safe working practices.
• To complete documentation as required by facility policy.
