Job summary

Coastal Community Credit Union is seeking a Reporting Analyst, Credit Risk to join the Risk Management team. The role focuses on accurate data analysis, reporting, and governance to support commercial lending decisions.

Remote work from anywhere in British Columbia is possible. You will develop risk metrics, automate reporting, and assist in regulatory audits to strengthen the institution's risk framework.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., Data Science, Finance, Statistics, Business Administration)
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a financial institution
  • Understanding of credit union operations, principles, and values

Responsibilities

  • Gather, validate, and clean financial data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy.
  • Identify key risk indicators with departments and ensure data availability and integrity.
  • Develop data requirement specs for banking systems and other platforms.
  • Create and maintain metrics and models for risk measurement and analysis.
  • Generate regular risk reports and dashboards, integrating Power BI reports.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and support audits with data-driven insights.
  • Document data lineage to support governance and compliance requirements.
  • Communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Reporting to the AVP, Credit Risk & Portfolio Monitoring, the Reporting Analyst, Credit Risk is responsible to ensure accurate and timely financial data analysis for the Risk Management team. Responsibilities include gathering, validating, and cleaning financial data, collaborating with departments to identify key risk indicators, implementing metrics and models, and maintaining data governance. The analyst conducts in-depth data analysis to identify trends and outliers, providing insights to support decision-making. Generating regular risk reports and dashboards, integrating Power BI reports, and automating processes for efficiency are key focuses. The Reporting Analyst, Credit Risk also ensures compliance with regulations, communicates findings to non-technical stakeholders, and assists in regulatory audits. Overall, the role contributes to the institution's risk management strategy through effective data management, analysis, and process improvement.

What’s the role?

Your duties will include:
  • Responsible to gather, validate, and clean financial data from various sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with different departments to identify key risk indicators, understand data requirements and ensure the availability and integrity of relevant information.
  • Develop data requirement specifications for banking system and other systems.
  • Metrics and Security Management
  • Collaborates with IT Solutions and Central Operations on change management initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain metrics and models for risk measurement and analysis.
  • Implement and manage security measures, ensuring that sensitive information is appropriately restricted.
  • Responsible for audits, managing the integrity of credit reporting/LOS/banking system source data and ensures the effectiveness of established controls.
  • Responsible to document and maintain data lineage to support data governance and compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for conducting in-depth analysis of risk-related data to identify trends, outliers, and potential areas of concern.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision‑making within the Risk Management team.

Responsible for designing and generating regular risk reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies. Integrate Power BI reports into other applications or platforms used within the financial institution. Create ad‑hoc reports to address specific inquiries or emerging risk issues.

Identify opportunities for process automation to streamline data collection and reporting procedures. Continuously improve existing reporting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Collaborate with Finance, Compliance, and IT, to ensure alignment of risk reporting activities with broader organizational objectives.

Responsible to communicate findings and insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Stay informed about relevant regulations and ensure that risk reports comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Assist in the preparation of documentation for regulatory audits and examinations.

What are we looking for?

Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., Data Science, Finance, Statistics, Business Administration)

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a financial institution

Understanding of credit union operations, principles, and values.

Ideally, you are a flexible, collaborative team player with:
  • Familiarity with risk management concepts, ECL models, and financial instruments.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, preferably in a financial institution or a risk management environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong proficiency in data manipulation and data visualization tools including SQL, DAX, Power BI, or similar business intelligence platforms.
  • Strong technical knowledge of banking system and the retail and commercial loans origination systems.
  • Strong knowledge of internet and web-based applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products.

Career Band Range (Annual Salary) - $72,535.00 to $90,173.00

The posted salary range is designed to reflect a broad career band, encompassing a variety of roles within our organization and serves as a general guideline. Your final compensation will be tailored to your unique skills, experience, and the responsibilities of the role.
