Job summary

The Canadian Press in Toronto is hiring a full-time journalist to join the Ontario bureau. The successful candidate will craft a wide range of stories for a national audience with speed, accuracy, and creativity.

Regular weekend shifts and three days a week with a team of reporters and editors at our Toronto headquarters are required. Responsibilities include reporting on breaking news in Ontario, producing multimedia stories for print/online/audio/video, and generating ideas to highlight

Qualifications

• Journalism degree or equivalent experience.
• Three years of experience working in a real-time, digital newsroom.
• Familiarity with CP Stylebook and Caps and Spelling.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Superior research skills, including in using social media as a news gathering tool.
• Copyediting experience is an asset.
• Bilingualism is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

• Report on a wide variety of assignments, with a focus on breaking news in Ontario

The Canadian Press is hiring a full-time journalist to join the Ontario bureau. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to craft a wide range of stories for a national audience. They will have excellent news judgment, pitch original ideas and bring speed, accuracy and creativity to their coverage. This role encompasses regular weekend shifts and three days a week working with a team of reporters and editors at our Toronto headquarters.
