Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Repair and Restoration Technician with strong carpentry and drywall expertise to join our restoration team. This role plays a vital part in rebuilding homes and businesses after damage — from framing and finishing to precise drywall installation and repair. The ideal candidate has strong carpentry and drywall skills, with a solid understanding of construction principles, safety practices, and quality standards. A Journeyman or Red Seal certification in Carpentry, or equivalent experience in drywall installation, is preferred. Working independently or as part of a team, you’ll help ensure every restoration project is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest level of craftsmanship.

What You’ll Do:
Carpentry Duties
  • Safely operate hand and power tools (e.g., saws, routers, sanders, ladders, temporary generators).
  • Perform demolition, debris disposal, and site setup (poly containment, drop sheets, scaffolding).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, prepare material take-offs, and follow building codes.
  • Complete framing (wood and steel studs), insulation, vapour barrier, and finish carpentry (trim, doors, casing, baseboards).
  • Install and secure exterior materials such as roofing and siding.
  • Construct temporary and permanent partitions as needed.
Drywall Duties
  • Measure, cut, and install drywall for walls, ceilings, and partitions in various building types.
  • Tape, fill, and finish drywall surfaces to paint-ready standards.
  • Cut openings for electrical outlets, vents, and fixtures.
  • Install metal framing and decorative trim for windows, doors, and vents.
  • Fit, align, and hang doors, install hardware, and perform detailed finishing work.
General Responsibilities
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain professional communication with clients and team members
  • Work efficiently under time constraints to meet deadlines.
  • Follow all BELFOR safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
  • Participate in BELFOR training programs and safety meetings.
  • Communicate job site conditions or concerns proactively to supervisors.
  • May act as a team lead when designated by the Production Manager.
What You Bring:
For Carpentery
  • Journeyman or Red Seal certification
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in carpentry (construction, restoration, or insurance industry preferred).
For Drywallers
  • Post-secondary drywall certification or minimum 1 year of drywall installation experience.
  • Construction / Restoration / Insurance experience preferred.
General Requirements
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of construction math, building codes, and job-site safety standards
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Basic computer/tablet (iPad) literacy.
  • Valid driver’s license (eligible under BELFOR’s vehicle policy).
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, or on-call as required.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent lifting of 5–40 lbs (up to 65% of the time).
  • Occasional lifting of 41+ lbs (up to 50% of the time, assisted).
  • Working at heights over 5 feet (periodically).
  • Fit Testing (half/full face mask) and annual certification required.
  • Standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
Why Join Us:
  • Competitive compensation package;
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits;
  • Company phone and laptop provided;
